Creekin

Throughout my life I have found some incredible places while looking for good fishing holes. This creek is one of those places.  It is a hard place to plan a at trip because it can be incredibly flashy and is dangerous at high levels, but within a couple of days it will be back to base flows.  Giant bluffs rise more than a hundred feet at bends in the river and wildlife is abundant.  In the summer time it can be great fishing, but most of the fish move out of the creek in the wintertime.  Anyways...the pictures turned out to be pretty good, and looking back on them makes me wish it was April.   Several bald eagles were grouped up during this trip, and at one point I floated directly underneath one in a tree about 30 feet over my head.

Enjoy.

  1. Just checking out your blog (I am a beginner fisherman) and noticed that you have an Oscoda canoe. I am thinking about buying one from this guy I found on craigslist. How do you like yours? Also did you catch your bass/trout on flies or did you use a spinner rod?

    1. Mine is a very rare royalex oscoda raider tandem that I turned into a solo. I love it. I know that the fiberglass versions were great too. Shoot me a link to the craigslist ad and I will give you some honest feedback. I fly fish and use standard gear. I normally bass fish with baitcast and spinning gear, and fly fish for trout. I especially like stripping streamers for trophy brown trout.

  2. Nice river! Looks great. So much cover, I'd guess they are in there all year for sure. I fish smaller creeks at times with much less cover during WInter in Indiana and they stay put.
